Belle Isle has always made live music a priority, along with trivia night, BINGO and special events. They want to be involved in the Oklahoma City community, and they are supportive of surrounding events and happenings. They served as a sponsor for Edgemere Under the Stars shows and have been involved in the Boathouse District for years. The owners are genuine, the staff is accommodating, the food is good, and the beer is their own. Cellar Door could not ask for a better group to work with.
Thanksgiving week kicked off the partnership between Belle Isle and Cellar Door Music Group, and the ball kept rolling from there. Four shows have been lined up for the month of December with more on the horizon for January 2016. The $5 cover stays consistent, and there generally are two bands scheduled for the night. If there's only one, it's a damn good one. The music is overall original, unless there's a special cover band event. Bands and artists vary from indie rock, to acoustic to hip hop. And whether or not your a fan of the genre, you will no doubt always find committed, creative artists.
The location is pretty unbeatable, as N.W. Expressway is accessible from 2-35 and it's just a quick jump from that highway. Parking is always available, which is a definite plus. The brick oven pizzas are a must try. Along with the desserts, which at least one recipe comes from one owner's 80-something-year-old mother.
What's not to love? Hope to see you at a show.
